Excellent, comprehensive, easy to follow...

I read "The Meditation Handbook" (Gyatso) before this and felt thoroughtly confused by the excessive Buddist philosophy and religious emphasis in that book.
This book, by Paul Roland, has great pictures, is comprehensive, easy to follow, and easy to read. Any child or adult would find this book useful. It's definately a beginner's introduction to meditation, but also covers chakras, meditation settings, creative visualization, color therapy, using mantras, and contains numerous exercises! It's a terrific overview of meditation and related topics which will allow the reader to choose what other aspects they want to pursue after reading this book. Highly recommended!

Comprehensive and detailed

It's said that Japanese candlesticks are so universally used and well-regarded in Japan that you couldn't trade the Japanese market without knowing them. While I haven't tried it to verify that claim myself, many traders do believe in this technique of technical analysis and find it useful. Nison's book is probably the bible on the subject, and after a brief but interesting history of the Japanese market, he discusses what they are and how to use them in great depth and detail, giving the reader a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of candlesticks. Sometimes the prose gets a little dense and may be tough going for beginners, but overall, this is an excellent book on the subject.
If you're a novice trader, however, I would recommend you read one of the many introductory books and then a more advanced book on technical analysis before reading this one. The book isn't cheap, but I would do a search on Amazon's used books and see if you can pick up a copy that way. Finally, a caveat, which is that one indicator, or even one type of indicator (such as moving averages or oscillators) isn't enough to trade the markets, and the real skill in trading is knowing which indicator is applicable in any given situation, which only comes with experience. But this book will help you understand this important indicator so you will know how to use it when it's appropriate.

Sometimes a book's price is its value indicator...

...and this book is well worth every penny. It's not simply a candlestick charts book, but also a very good TA work. It helps a lot in spotting continuation patterns or reversing trends, although I have to say that I'd have prefered that mr Nison provided us with some more candlestick combinations with other TA tools. Trading using candlestick alone can be dangerous.
There's no way a barchart, a HLC, OHLC or any other kind of chart can tell you as much as candlesticks can do. While you can't tell which of the bars were up or down closes by looking at a barchart, a simple glance at the candlesticks could provide you much more information about accurate trade signals. One of the things that struck me the most is the fact that mr Nison explains the psychological and emotional aspects that go with almost every pattern. That's what the chart reading is supposed to be.
Shorting a stock has almost been a taboo for me for a long time, but since I learned to spot "the dark cloud" on strong volume and some other things, I became much more confident with the short side of the market.
This book is for everyone: for the novices, the intermediate, the advanced and professional traders too. This, I think, is a very rare thing to find in a trading book nowadays. Get it, no matter how versed of a trader you are!

Among my many books on technical analysis of the financial markets I rate this book as excellent and highly recommended to more middle to experienced trades. Motivation for the latter statement is that in my opinion one needs some basic knowledge of technical analysis before delving into Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques. The book is very comprehensive with many candlestick charts that are easy to understand with detailed, easy to follow explanations. It also compliments other books on technical analysis such as "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets by John J. Murphy".

Time for an OIL CHANGE!

Its amazing to me that a man that is literally full of SEO oil, can write a book about bodybuilding. This guy is a major fraud. Those gigantic arms? Thats not muscle folks, that SYNTHOL. Go look it up. Its a an oil designed to be injected into a muscle to make the muscle larger. Greg Valvolino has fooled the general public, including the other reviewers on this page, but in the true bodybuilding world, this guy is a joke. You want a real bodybuilding book? Go read Dorian Yates book, go read education of a bodybuilder by Arnold, go read books by Waterbury, read stuff by Christian Thibadeau, Bill Pearl and others, BUT DO NOT buy a book by Greg Valentino. THe guy is a fraud and his muscle is fraud. Synthol in the arms, synthol in the delts, and synthol in the brain. Anybody who buys this book is clueless...

The book was short and to the point . I learned a lot of things . It didn't just tell you workouts to do it gives you ideas so you can make your own workout. Even a slow reader will be able to read it with in a day so you can apply some new techniques to your workouts and diet .

Good, but some flaws.

This was an adorable and sad poem book. It would be great for a child who lost one of their parents and needs some help understanding that being sad is ok as it is to have fun even when you’re sad. There’s a great little stanza in here;
"Just tell me where you've gone,
whether you're near of far.
I'll fly until I find you
no matter where you are."

I dock it down from 5 stars because while it has rhyming schemes throughout, the author has a few stanzas and lines that don’t rhyme and really bug or throw off the smooth transitioning. But other than that, it’s a great heart felt book.

Subtle and moving

It's been difficult to grieve over the recent death of my 94 year old father. This title came up in a list of recommended books about children grieving... and though in my 60s, that's exactly who I am right now. Reading about Davey's subtle experiences as he grieves for his mother helps me understand and appreciate what I'm going through.

Very well written

I don't like to read informational books especially professional text books. Usually the writers of the books fail to remember that those of us reading them are at the beginning level of the profession which makes them hard to read. This book however is easy to read, formatted, organized, and written well and has a lot of useful information for those going into a health profession management position.

Marshall Clinard (1911-2010) was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He wrote numerous books and articles on deviance and sociology, and was a major contributor to our understanding of white-collar and corporate criminality.

Robert F. Meier has been Professor the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) since 1998. He obtained his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and has held faculty positions at the University of California, Washington State University, and Iowa State University before coming to UNO. Dr. Meier is the author or editor of 23 books, original and revised editions, and over 75 articles in professional journals, book chapters, and technical reports. He has been a member of the American Sociological Association, Midwest Sociological Society, American Society of Criminology, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is a consultant for the National Science Foundation, National Research Council, and the National Institute of Justice. He has served as associate editor for the American Sociological Review, Criminology, Sociological Inquiry, and Deviant Behavior, and as Vice President of the American Society of Criminology.

GREAT TEXTBOOK COVERING DEVIANCE

Outstanding and very thorough look at deviant behavior from the sociological perspective. Difficult to cover entire book in one semester, as it is very long. All text; no pictures, so book is not necessarily appealing to the eye.

Theoretical perspectives covered in detail. This book may work better as a graduate text. I would love to see a better study guide to accompany the book.

I got this for school but found this to be very interesting to read. I found this to be very informative and gave me a lot more info on deviant human behavior. I am able to see it in people and deal with it in my personal life as well.

This book is terrible. Information provided in one chapter will most likely be contradicted in the chapters to follow. The information provided is archaic, and presented in a fashion which reads more like one's opinion, than a text free of one's personal values. Research and studies referenced are outdated. I found that much of the information was stated as fact, as opposed to sociological theory. I considered dropping my class after the first week because the book is so terrible, but stuck with it, assuming it would get better. It did not. This is not the first sociology textbook I have read, but it is the worst.
