About the Author
Jerry Fottral is a programmer, potter, and amateur pomologist. He has a BA degree in East Asian Languages and Literature from the University of Iowa. Jerry has been programming for more than 25 years and has taught computer courses for 19 years. He has been a computer programming instructor at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 17 years and, for the past 7 years, has taught AS/400 programming classes. Jerry is also an independent AS/400 consultant. He lives with his family on a small orchard near Swisher, Iowa.

work with different screen types run CL commands from the command line and with prompting tailor library lists change their user profiles use PDM and SEU to create database-file source members coded in DDS insert and update using DFU and SQL generate screen displays and printed reports using Query/400 design menus and display screens with SDA code, compile, and execute CL programs

Excellent Beginners Book

This was purchased mostly to get more familiar with the AS400 and I learned a lot! This book has a lot of good info for the 'Work with Query' and DFU features. The screens really haven't changed a whole lot from the as400 to the iseries which makes it easy to translate into any iSeries questions I had.

It's definitely a good book on AS/400. It contains exercises in the book that helps learning further and it has the answers to the exercises as well. I recommend it. I'm new to AS/400 and I find it to be very helpful.

It's a textbook. No way around that, but my biggest irritation with this book, is that it only showed you how to calculate something using a graphing calculator, which basically forces you to buy one. If they fixed that it would be fine I guess.

Best book in the world

I personally look back at the book for referance as how to calculate figures for projects that are coming up at work. I thought that the book had more valuable information in it, that was needed in the everyday of finance. It is worth more keeping the book than selling it. If you asked me what the "Net Present Value" was on this book. I estimated $1201.75 after I expensed the book from my cost of making a decision on whether to, or not to engaging in a project using the "Cost of Capital" method in chapter 10. And, because of it I made more money for myself.

Fun, engaging read

I have read Mystical Christmas by this author under the pseudonym Susan Smith Alvis and really enjoyed it so I thought I would give Unquenchable a shot. I absolutely adore TVD stories and found this novella really grabbed my attention right from the beginning. The relationship between Klaus and Caroline is insanely intense and Klaus would do just about anything to keep her safe even from his own family. This book was filled with tons of unexpected twists and turns that kept me engaged throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys TVD, exciting YA novels filled with adventure, drama, and romance or anyone just looking for a fun read.

I really enjoyed the book. It was a fun read and I found the take on Klaus' half-brother very interesting and how he was tied in to what was happening with the other side. There were some parts of the mythology that had me a little confused but nothing very detracting from the storyline and the possibility of a triangle had me frowning but overall, this is a very fun read. I absolutely loved reading about Klaus and Caroline's relationship and wish more of this is what we had gotten on the shows. They were characterized perfectly and it was so much fun reading how far they had come and the ending was absolutely perfect. I can't wait for the sequel!

I am not a fan of Vampire Diaries. That being said, I really enjoyed this story. I don't know the characters and their dynamics, but by the end of the book, I was definitely routing for Klaus and hated Gage. He has a screw loose, but it is because his love was taken from him. IF you are into the Diaries, then read this. If not, try it too.

Must Read for Kilimanjaro trekking

This book was indispensable for our ascent up Kilimanjaro this March 2012. It was just chock full of information and prepared us very well for each day's journey up the mountain. Although, it was out of stock and had to buy it new for $21 from an Amazon Used book seller, I am very happy with the purchase. It not only includes flora and fauna, but descriptions of the geology and climates which make Kilimanjaro so unique and will give you a deeper appreciation as you ascend "pole, pole -slowly, slowly". It gives very good descriptions of the many climbing routes and gives you a description of what you will encounter during each day of your route. The descriptions of the Kilimanjaro towns are good but could be cross referenced (lodging, restaurants, internet availability...) on line before you go as Tanzania is moving forward with change, too. Grab this book and go. You will not ever regret your days spent on Kilimanjaro. Although it is a hefty little book, we took it on our climb and read it during the day before we retired early each night. Cheers and good luck.

If You're Heading To Kili Get This Book!

I purchased this book, along with several others, in preparation for a Kilimanjaro climb. This book is the only one I've reread (several times over). I was gratified by the detailed help the book offers in preparing for the climb-but I was most impressed by the quality of the writing. It's not often you get something that's both informative and well-written. This is the only guidebook that will be making the trip with me to Kilimanjaro. I'll add to this review when I return.

Back from a successful trip to the summit of Kilimanjaro in January 2011. Carried this guide with me and found it indispensable, especially the description of summit night from Barafu to Uhuru. If you're going to climb Kili get this book. I still read the climb sections to remind me of this spectacular trip.

Very thorough and descriptive

This was a great book to have on the mountain. Each night before bed we would read about the next day's hike. The graphic next to each day's hike showing elevation gain and loss was also extremely helpful just to help us know what was in store. Our guide did not have good things to say about this book (perhaps because he took issue with the tipping guide, saying it was out of date and too low). There were definitely parts of the narrative that we didn't agree with (i.e. Day 2 on Machame is definitely not the "easiest" day), but his description of summit night to Stella Point is pretty spot on. Worth the purchase price.
