About the Author
Mary (DeSouza) Stephens graduated from MIT with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. She has over 15 years of teaching experience, including designing courses and teaching as an adjunct faculty member at UMASS Boston; TAing discrete math at MIT; and developing curriculum for and teaching classes in high school computer science, LSAT, algebra, geometry, science, humanities, and K-8 math and computers. Outside of teaching, Mary worked in engineering, product management, and strategy for companies including Edusoft and Oracle. In the past few years, she has spoken at international education conferences and has served as Professional Math Consultant at Merrimack College, founder of Omega Teaching, and Research and Development Manager at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. best exam prep book I've ever used

This book has several features that separate it from all the other prep books I've seen or tried before. First, there are simply no errors in it. It is so frustrating when you're taking a practice test in a prep book and there are errors! But I found none in this book. The preparation and the editing are far above the standard for this type of book. Second, the book provides an astounding number of practice problems. Each chapter focuses on one major test area (like number & operations, algebra, geometry, probability) and is divided into several subsections. Every subsection includes key explanations and examples and 10 test questions. Thorough explanations are provided at the end of the subsection for each of the test questions. There's also a 20-question module review test at the end of the chapter with in-depth explanations. That's like 500 extra practice questions in addition to the 50-question and 100-question practice tests at the very end. Nothing beats practicing with real problems and this book gives you that practice. Finally, the book is clear and concise and covers all the topics thoroughly so you have all the skills you need to succeed on the test!

The test prep materials created by Mary DeSouza were incredibly effective in preparing me for the Middle School Math MTEL. The materials were organized by the test standards, and each section provided an overview of key points and a rich pool of practice questions with explanations. On test day, I felt very prepared for the exam, and my test results confirmed the thorough test preparation I received from the materials. Thank you!

Taking the Middle School Math MTEL? This book is a must have!

I purchased three books to help prepare me for the exam, this one was by far the best of the 3. The book is broken down by sub-sections on the exam with short quizzes after each topic. Each quiz and the cumulative exam at the end come with detailed explanations of each answer!! No more trying to figure out how to arrive at the correct answer with only the correct answer to guide you!
